A study at Ben-Gurion University has reached an unequivocal conclusion:
Without additional measures, the tax on disposable utensils will not change consumer habits because demand for them is relatively inelasticâ–  The economist Dr. Chen Cohen, the author of the study, warns: "The only result will be more money to the state treasury.

Research shows that there are friendlier and more efficient ways to protect the environment than imposing an unnecessary tax.
